41 Agriculture Convention Agro-Innovation 2012 Japan

For the fouth year in a row the International Agriculture and Horticultural Exhibition Agro-Innovation Japan was held in Tokyo International Exhibition Centre (Tokyo Big Sight) from 14 – 16 November 2012. This exhibition was formerly known as the International Horticulture Exhibition.

42 Ten years of the International Criminal Court: much achieved, much still to do

‘The International Criminal Court plays an essential role in preventing crimes, protecting people and bringing perpetrators to justice. It has achieved a great deal, but there is still much to do.’ Foreign minister Frans Timmermans delivered this message in the Knights’ Hall in The Hague at a ceremony to mark the ICC’s 10th anniversary, which was attended by Her Majesty the Queen and the President of Senegal.

43 Ambassador Presents His Credentials to Emperor

On November 14 Ambassador Radinck J. van Vollenhoven presented his credentials to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.

44 Japanese horticulture delegation visits the Netherlands

From Sunday 28 October to Friday 2 November 2012 a Japanese delegation of 55 people visited the Netherlands. The visit focused on cooperation in greenhouse horticulture between the Netherlands and Japan. The visit was a follow-up of a Dutch mission of horticultural experts who, in February this year, visited the area around Sendai that was devastated by the tsunami in March 2011.

45 New government: open attitude towards Europe and the wider world

The new Dutch government was today sworn in by Her Majesty the Queen. The members of the government responsible for foreign policy are Frans Timmermans (Minister of Foreign Affairs) and Lilianne Ploumen (Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation). Mr Timmermans, 51, was Minister for European Affairs from 2007 to 2010. Ms Ploumen, 50, worked for various development organisations before serving as chair of the PvdA (Labour Party).

46 Minister De Jager talks to Japanese investors.

Following the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank in Tokyo (12-14 October), the Netherlands Minister of Finance, Mr. De Jager, met with several Japanese companies that have establishments in the Netherlands or are considering having one.

47 Japanese horticulture delegation to the Netherlands

From Sunday 28 October to Friday 2 November a Japanese delegation of 55 people will visit the Netherlands. The visit focuses on cooperation between the Netherlands and Japan in the area of (glass) horticulture.

48 Embassy participated in Bio Japan 2012

The Embassy participated in the Bio Japan 2012 held in Pacifico Yokohama from 10 to 12 October. The show is one of the premier business partnering event for bio industry in Japan with a number of co-located seminars and side events. 434 pharmaceutical companies, bio-venture companies, universities, research institutes both from home and abroad exhibited the cutting edge products and technology.

49 CSM Japan and Dick Bruna Japan received Deshima Awards from Finance Minister De Jager

The Deshima Business Awards are granted bi-annually by the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce in Japan (NCCJ) to Dutch companies in recognition of outstanding achievements in successful business development in the Japanese market. This year the award presenting ceremony was held on 1 October in TEPIA Building in Tokyo in the presence of H.E. Mr. Jan Kees de Jager, Finance Minister of the Netherlands who was visiting Japan to attend the IMF-World Bank Conference.
