Visa application in Japan

Passports submitted for visa applications cannot be returned to the applicant until the procedure is completed. From start to finish the procedure can take up to 15 calendar days. Please take this in mind when applying for a visa. The earliest possible time to apply for your visa is three months before your intended date of entry.

Visa applications at the Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo

All visa applications in Japan for the Netherlands are taken in and issued only by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tokyo. The Consulate General in Osaka cannot provide this service anymore. Also, the embassy forwards all visa application files to our regional office in Malaysia, where they will make the decision on the applications.

When to apply at the Netherlands’ Embassy
To apply at the Embassy, the main destination or period of longest stay within the Schengen area must be the Netherlands. Every applicant must appear in person to apply.

Visa Fees

By decision of the Council of the European Union of 1 June 2006, the handling fee for Schengen visas (up to 90 days) as of 1 January 2007 will be the equivalent in Japanese Yen of 60 Euro.
